QT Quilt Show & Storage

Today is Quilt Show Day here at Grandma's Pearl. This year I will be finishing up my UFO's..... And try not to start any new projects until they are done.... But that didn't last to long because 2 months ago I showed you this fabric: St. Remy de Provence by Robyn Pandolph for RJR and showed the pattern for the Disappering 9-Patch. It's done!

This is the back of that same quilt. I like to use up all of my leftover fabric so I don't have to put them into my way-to-large fabric stash. I do have some of the pink border left, but that OK. I am gathering pink fabrics for ?? I am hoping that this does not break my New Years Resolutions, because I really did start it last year.

This is Creme Fraiche by Fig Tree Patterns. I started it about 2 years ago, had all the pieces done, but just could not get around to do the applique until last summer.

This is a Table runner. I saw it in a magazine about 2 years ago and changed it to included wool applique and making it bigger for my table.

Next are some of my hints for storage. The next three pictures will show you how I store my fabrics and projects and why. I have a closet that hold some of my fabric and new projects. To me these are different that UFO's...Why....Because:
1. They have not been started and could be changed at a minutes notice.
2. I had a quilt shop once, never to do that again, but LOVED IT A LOT! My sweet husband says he will open it again in a second. All I have to do is say YES. I keep telling him all I want is my own store, where I can go and get fabric, start some thing new. This is just what he has given me. My very own STORE.

These are my NEW project's, fabric collections to make any thing I can think of, Kits, you name it.

Here are the quilts that are on my to be quilting list. Between doing for others and myself I try not to have to many hanging here. I have found that if I add my quilts to the line up with the others, then mine get done too. I work from left to right.

And these are my building blocks:
1. 2 1/2 inch strips in fabric collections, era's, light's and dark's.
2. HST (Half Square Triangles), Hex's, Drunker's paths pieces, and any other shapes that I have cut with my Studio and Go cutter.
3. 3 boxes for just my applique supplies.

I know that some of the blogs are really showing their UFO's and how deep that stack can be. I also had a friend who has been asking me to show her how I store my UFO's. I have to said it has not always looked like this, but I have been on an organization kick the last few months. I know I should have taken a picture before I started but I would not want to show you what I had been doing. The best thing I can tell you is find a small space and stack neatly and if you think you have to many then get started!

I hope that this has given you some ideas on how to store your projects. I love these storage boxes you can get at the craft shops. Watch for sells and you can really save some money. It looks like I need to go buy a few more.
Watch for more. In the future I will show you more of my quilting space.

Caroline

It's New Release Day over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps. This is Caroline, don't you just love her. This last summer, we took our girls camping and while shopping for some supplies we saw this hat and just had to tried it on our Lydia and she would not take it off. This sooooo reminds me of that time. She was so proud and she loved her new hat. We ended up buying one for each of the girls. Now that's not the end of the story. The girls would not take them off and wore them every where! This lasted for at least 2 to 3 weeks. Even now the girls are still having fun with their hats.
So back to business. Come on over to Little Miss Muffet Stamps and check all the images out and get yours today.

QT Farmer's Wife Table Runner

Farmer's Wife Blocks gone wild! This is one set of the Farmer's Wife blocks that I started and then decided that they were just to bright and wild for me. Then I got reminded of this table runner and then it all came together. Just the bright and wild table runner for a nice spring day or that special day, like a birthday!

The next one is another table runner I did using some odd blocks in my stash. What is really neat about the runner is that it doesn't have to be any special size so......... get out those odd blocks and have some fun! Just think, make some thing to brighten up your home or make some for your special friends. These blocks must be at least 12 years old. What a GOOD FEELING to finish something! I love getting those UFO done!

OK, what do you need to know to make these runners? Find some blocks..planned or not planned. Sew them together and put a border around them. Sew a larger border on the ends, Same fabric as the last border or use another fabric. Take the measurement on the height of your runner, add the width of your last border times 2, (for 2 borders), plus 1/2 inch for the seams. This is the measurement you will cut your last border, because it is the backing, 2 borders and seam allowance. After you sew this on you will have a tube.

Another view of the tube.

Press and fold in half and sew together. I used my serger, but it is not necessary. This will make the pointed ends of you runner.

When you press the ends, take some Heat-n'bond or alike and seal the end down. If you wanted to do handwork here, you could do that as well.

I really enjoyed making these and plan on doing more. Enjoy...

Together

I can't believe that it is 2012! I promised my self that this year I would color more, entered more challenges, and yes even quilt more.
This is 'Together' from Bild Malarna and I just love here. I have a love of bears too.... The challenge is simple, 'Challenge #38 Try Something New' and is playing right now over at 7 Kids College Fund. This card mite look the same, but what I did different was color with my Prismacolor Pencils and after I blended my colors I went back over it again and colored more.... Take a closer look at my bear and clothes and let me know what you think. I like it and I will do it again for more added texture.

QT Farmer's Wife Quilt Blocks #7 and lots of storage

Today I have got lots to show and tell.

First the Farmer's Wife Quilt Blocks I just finished. 10 more to add to my stash. These are :
#19, 83, 49, 40, 7, 24, 46, 38, 90, 63
Enjoy...

The next things I want to share is the corner of my fabric and cutting room. This bookcase is only 2 steps away from my cutting table and iron and 4 steps away from my fabric cutting machine. I have my fabric stash under the table and on a few shelves next to my cutting table. This shelve also hold the small things that I use the most with my quilting, right where I can just reach out and get it when I need it.
You can see the 2 1/2 binders that fill a whole shelve. A few months ago these were about 6 piles and boxes round about my room and it was a guessing game as to were you look for what you need. Then Pinterest came into my life and it got my mind thinking. Why can't I do the same thing with my ideas and patterns? Although all of the store bought patterns were together, my magazines stuff was together and patterns shared with friends and my own art work had their place, I could not remember which of my thought were which. These books are all filled to the maxi, but everything is together in one book. I even have enough room to add more binders and more ideas!

I am going to share the Baby book. All of my store bought patterns, magazines articles and etc and here in this one book. Just like the Board's on Pinterest! Cool hug?

The next thing I want to show is my corner of my Stamping Room. This Christmas My Sweet Husband bought me the Recollections Organizer Cubes from Michaels. These have been a life save. Here again this room had different size boxes and tubs for storing and with my girls and grand daughters playing here with me..... There was not enough room. We now have empty cubes just waiting to be filled.

The first 2 pictures basically show my corner. The next one show my Barbara's corner. Our tables come out in an 'L' shape with a space for Carol and or the grand daughters on the other table.

We have lots of fun here and now everything has a home. Now if we can all get felling better we will be able to play again.
Thanks for looking and have a FUN DAY!

Sugar

Good Day, for right this minute the sun is shinning here in Texas so I just had to do a 'Happy Sunshine' to all of you.
Over at Little Miss Muffet Stamps we have an Anything Inspirational going on. Our Barbara has been under the weather the past few weeks so if you are looking for new images be sure to check back in two weeks.....they are going to be sooooooooo cute!
Here we have Sugar. My inspiration came from my leftover paper scraps and grew from there. The paper piecing is something I have done maybe once or twice and have a hard time remembering that it is there. So much fun to add the design to the clothes and I even added some copic marker to it.
Don't forget to check out the challenge, there is still time to play and win some of Little Miss Muffet's cute images
