<a href="http://littlemissmuffetchallenges.blogspot.com/2014/04/challenge-84-anything-goes.html">Little Miss Muffet is having an anything-goes-challenge</a>, so I am showing off her new Jamie Stamp with face. Come join us...<br />
<br />
The first card is Jamie from <a href="http://littlemissmuffetchallenges.blogspot.com/2014/04/challenge-84-anything-goes.html">Little Miss Muffet Polka Dot Pals.</a> I also used her new Add-on-Faces eye stamp for the eyes and glasses. Remember the Polka Dot Pals have two little beaded eyes?<br />

We had this coloring challenge with us coloring on a card and passing it on to our neighbor until the card made it around the room. Each time we had 3 minutes to color. This is my card and I started with two tone purple bows on her dress and in her hair. It turned out really fun and was a real learning experience!<br />

Today Barbara and I are coloring again. Practicing my coloring.<br />
The one on the Left is done with Prismacolor Pencils only and the one on the Right was done with Copic Markers and topped with Prismacolor Pencils. I used Strathmore Bristol Vellum Surface paper and I REALLY LIKED using the pencils but found it harder to use the Copic Marker. They seemed to puddle on me.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The first one is Fancy Sunbonnet Miss Muffet from Little Miss Muffet. The background was painted with a ink pad and stamp with Fancy Sunbonnet Miss Muffet masked out, just as Zoe taught us. The pen was a cross from Zentangle, Barbara's clouds and my own thoughts.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The second card was from the coloring hair challenge, Hair of a different color . I colored the hair with copic markers. The rest was colored with Prismacolor pencils. The paper for this one was Zoe's paper.<br />

And I am still coloring! Here are some of my cards:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghgh48mXDdBZcwe7ZoqTDFBHOEbFLobGaTpungk3TcTp4BcPdIbWNAvmieTzJY-JPEeYHWbFB7zqWN0jksPnNJwLiktQYes7Fnfc_T6vUfx4VclDWhKazvCYypHt7vG0SAVF9XsP3iOqo/s1600/14-3+Poke+a+Dot+doll.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghgh48mXDdBZcwe7ZoqTDFBHOEbFLobGaTpungk3TcTp4BcPdIbWNAvmieTzJY-JPEeYHWbFB7zqWN0jksPnNJwLiktQYes7Fnfc_T6vUfx4VclDWhKazvCYypHt7vG0SAVF9XsP3iOqo/s1600/14-3+Poke+a+Dot+doll.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
This first one I really colored about 5 months ago when Barbara was trying to teach me how to color in faces without drawn lines. I even did this one myself, no help from Barbara. The image is Polka Dot Pals from Little Miss Muffet. She comes with little beady eyes and the rest is up to you.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxhLZTuiEoG2NUof1VCsUttVHbGu4NNBajysiV13cFIXySU1SUAsq8FohSx9i_8YpzX2zri3k0FqzdhvIgU-JPzVjo7QFaNLnZ3ghjrafeek9OzhA5_HeJoUUru956fS74_9n2M_g9Hdc/s1600/14-3+Tilda+with+Big+Balloon.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxhLZTuiEoG2NUof1VCsUttVHbGu4NNBajysiV13cFIXySU1SUAsq8FohSx9i_8YpzX2zri3k0FqzdhvIgU-JPzVjo7QFaNLnZ3ghjrafeek9OzhA5_HeJoUUru956fS74_9n2M_g9Hdc/s1600/14-3+Tilda+with+Big+Balloon.jpg" height="320" width="245" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At the coloring retreat I colored the balloon on Tilda with Big Balloon and added the zentangle to it. What a BLAST! I will be doing more of this! We played around with coloring hair and making glow spots for our images and after coming home this is how I chose to finish this one. Barbara did bailed me out with the hair, but the FACE IS ALL MINE!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What fun we all had and Zoe and Barbara did a GREAT JOB PLANNING EVERYTHING.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
THANK YOU for the great time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We learned more, so there will be more to come.</div>

As you can see my table runners don't look finished, but by the 10th they will be. My DH is having surgery the first of the week and I will not have time to post a finished photo. I will be doing the binding while sitting by his side. I changed my mind from using civil war prints to newer prints. The top one and the bottom one are really Moda Mimi by Chez Moi 5 inch squares that have been cut into fouths. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

One tablerunner is on the machine and the backing and batting are the same for all 3 quilts. So when one gets done, I will add the next, until all 3 have been quilted.<br />

These will make great Christmas gifts and maybe I will still have one for my table. I added one more border to the outside to make it more colorful, bigger and because I had the fabric.<br />
<br />
These have been fun to do and not much work. Don't forget to check out <a href="http://www.aquiltinglife.com/">A Quilting Life</a> on the 10th. She said she would have another project for us to do. <br />
<br />

<br />
We are back today with a sneak peak of my LLF (Long Lost and Forgotten) UFO Sunbonnet Sue Quilt. As you remember these blocks are 37 years old and where doing a petty good job of hiding in my closet. Hopefully next year I can get to the other 2 UFO's that are just as old.<br />
<br />
The challenge is<a href="http://blog.patsloan.com/2013/11/pat-sloan-a-easy-challenge-join-me-in-this-sew-along.html"> Pat Sloan year end 2013 UFO.</a> I have it all pieced together. I got pass 2 of my stumbling blocks.....one is sewing all the blocks together and the other one is sewing the borders on. So now it is on to the fun part and that is the quilting. It's on the long arm and just waiting for me to get quilting. Can't wait to show you the whole quilt. It has turned out really fun and I don't know why I waited so long....<br />

The head was stamped twice and a mask was created with the face. The first image shows Tilda holding the mask and the second picture shows Tilda with the mask on. I also cut off the butterfly wings on this image and included the gold sparkly wings for a more dimensional look. Now this Tilda is all ready for the mascaraed ball!<br />

These two were conspicuously named "<a href="http://www.dreamcottage.nu/english1/contents/en-us/p6431.html">SP06 Tilda</a>" and "<a href="http://www.dreamcottage.nu/english1/contents/en-us/p6438.html">SP06 Annie</a>" from <a href="http://www.dreamcottage.nu/english1/contents/en-us/d742.html">2006</a>. Instead of fussy cutting around the strand of hair, I cut it off and used brown jute. In the background I have used the fence DooHickey, MFT Grass metal die and also chipboard embellishment from Make it Crafty that were painted white.<br />

Hi, I am here today with Pat Sloan's 2013 End of the Year UFO Challenge. How easy can this be? I have been working hard on trying to finish up some of my old projects, so this is a <a href="http://blog.patsloan.com/2013/11/pat-sloan-a-easy-challenge-join-me-in-this-sew-along.html">GREAT CHALLENGE</a>!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="http://patsloan.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c976153ef019b00fd664b970c-pi" width="228" /></div>
<br />
Some of you mite wonder what has happen to me.....Well lets see, I have been sick, moved and trying hard to get my feet back on the ground and get sewing again. As I read about this challenge I thought about finishing up the binding on one quilt but that would be to easy....it has to be harder than this. So.......I went looking and found this project (well there are really 3 projects) that were started when my oldest daughter was little, She is 39 now. Somehow in choosing this project it will help to clear up a very LLF (long lost and forgot) UFO that has been sitting around more that it should have and maybe make me feel better about what UFO's Ihave left.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZS8IGkBNdLb40_LhE1KcwpeiNP5UMBGumK3R06lSVN5cqMrbkdXkQ72yxvYmbNLaFZvPmYugdfEZ-Q-VQfpSs2tmuxhDu8g-EGYUQcV4uRzgU6Tkak8-rATEg_M-lsCvwOQWl06qppVE/s1600/sunbonnet+sue.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZS8IGkBNdLb40_LhE1KcwpeiNP5UMBGumK3R06lSVN5cqMrbkdXkQ72yxvYmbNLaFZvPmYugdfEZ-Q-VQfpSs2tmuxhDu8g-EGYUQcV4uRzgU6Tkak8-rATEg_M-lsCvwOQWl06qppVE/s320/sunbonnet+sue.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
How many of you can remember Artex paints? I painted these blocks (15 in all) to make a bed quilt for my daughter's bed. It's to late for that, but maybe for one of my grand daugthers?<br />
<br />
Pat, I am up and ready for this challenge. Thanks<br />

<br />
Today we are making a fun pincushion..... <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg81hGwSu-PcNPcOyG1cb5L7stvVKgWqcm9Tij2Y4NE9j0lsoXGcgppOVJweFS-OuShiK_lVjtgBfNoDgwvBCTThztsN8QlRRpeUXAMc6cVECEfaK-fv2_CYRIGnYCGVPsioE7YQBtOfgo/s1600/photo-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg81hGwSu-PcNPcOyG1cb5L7stvVKgWqcm9Tij2Y4NE9j0lsoXGcgppOVJweFS-OuShiK_lVjtgBfNoDgwvBCTThztsN8QlRRpeUXAMc6cVECEfaK-fv2_CYRIGnYCGVPsioE7YQBtOfgo/s320/photo-2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
and sewing box.....<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheH9Y8hV71i-LG3z4cxIQ0EfQdp-trP9oXekxKP4cd9HGepdBgAEhcOzjUmlRrCXxa6wTAJK77Gp7tErsBiJkSLh7vOkBcAuD58Sei9byxcWvEz8NjYyxvhEw5fqBCF3o3QcKRBiO0kMA/s1600/P1050129.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheH9Y8hV71i-LG3z4cxIQ0EfQdp-trP9oXekxKP4cd9HGepdBgAEhcOzjUmlRrCXxa6wTAJK77Gp7tErsBiJkSLh7vOkBcAuD58Sei9byxcWvEz8NjYyxvhEw5fqBCF3o3QcKRBiO0kMA/s320/P1050129.jpg" width="307" /></a></div>
<br />
For the pincushion we start off with 2 pieces of fabric any size and any color. My large one here is 5 inches square and the smaller one is 3 inches square, but any size will do. Some times with the larger one I will layer it with 2 pieces of muslin just for a tighter construction.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjngJ1VBtz_6-g6c289QZNArMQXWaNJKXD1P_lS3udaxP72sBFXwJekyUUPADDDRJMMMkgGVvFDtF7feXA5EX_l498diBgvFoRm2NzkFW5t7Eif6XRyMUJ7FFN2ulAvQEJM-Cd8g6IKRo/s1600/photo+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="301" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjngJ1VBtz_6-g6c289QZNArMQXWaNJKXD1P_lS3udaxP72sBFXwJekyUUPADDDRJMMMkgGVvFDtF7feXA5EX_l498diBgvFoRm2NzkFW5t7Eif6XRyMUJ7FFN2ulAvQEJM-Cd8g6IKRo/s320/photo+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Layer the fabrics, right sides together with the extra muslin if you are using it, on the top and bottom. Stitch all around the outside edge at 1/4 inch seam, leaving an opening on one side for turning. Cut away the 4 corners as shown. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvsMQOHNlKeDWG4h8LiojrMFYVI0RXQlqrZVZ_gXTpxkkX1TezdCCwD1r4FL-wkRr2Tj00qe33h4_M0PsUTuHtGJ6yj1OfxXIsYT-YoXmw1eoHPeMR2s5vok0mA_SRaThaU0YYJAYDtVE/s1600/photo+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvsMQOHNlKeDWG4h8LiojrMFYVI0RXQlqrZVZ_gXTpxkkX1TezdCCwD1r4FL-wkRr2Tj00qe33h4_M0PsUTuHtGJ6yj1OfxXIsYT-YoXmw1eoHPeMR2s5vok0mA_SRaThaU0YYJAYDtVE/s320/photo+3.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
With a pin,line up the seam on both sides of a corner turning the seam allowance towards the opposite way and stitch across like you would for a bag bottom. How big of a seam here is up to you as to how thick or thin you want your pincushion and what size square you started with. With the larger size I like to draw a pencil line to follow and with the smaller one I just use my sewing machine foot. I do back tack and sew the seam twice just so it won't come out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE0GFTkQkx9u_jI2YrV_IZmEPazu1PzNe0dEeDgXAuDEYE0USzCeQ89wO6VdFaVj_54AYE6Nm2llXfOqpgkCPzTuSKFYWSuZFP4XhZgR2f_VHDjRykgWDF2NSAUvmetdbPcgHuxa2PEhI/s1600/photo+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgE0GFTkQkx9u_jI2YrV_IZmEPazu1PzNe0dEeDgXAuDEYE0USzCeQ89wO6VdFaVj_54AYE6Nm2llXfOqpgkCPzTuSKFYWSuZFP4XhZgR2f_VHDjRykgWDF2NSAUvmetdbPcgHuxa2PEhI/s320/photo+4.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
When that is done, cut away the extra fabric and turn it inside out. <br />

I like to fill my pincushions with Crushed Walnut Shells. You can find them at your pet shops. Making a paper funnel with the help of type paper and a couple of staples, fill the bag. You can move the funnel around as you get to the top and help the shells go where you want them. I fill as many as I can get in and then use a straight pin to pin shut. A simple running stitch will close it nicely and when you sew your topper on it, it should pull tight. I use multiple stitches going from the top to bottom and back, tying off with a square knot.<br />

You can find some really cute toppers at the scrap-book stores. Flowers, lace, crochet, buttons or some applique flowers you have laying around. You can even add 2 or 3 squares on top of each others.<br />

Now for the Sewing Kit..... This is just an eyeglass case holder I bought at Wat-mart. I think I paid about $4.00 for it. The little 3 inch square pincushion fits in here really nice with plenty of room for thread, scissors and etc.</div>

This is a card that I colored awhile ago. Love the In the Beginning Magnolia stamps.....So cute with no hair and their long skinny legs and arms. I don't know if these have names of their own. The only information I could find was that they are 'In the Beginning' by Magnolia so if anyone can help me out it would be nice.<br />
I had just bought them last year and had lots of fun coloring them. I wish I had more......<br />

Here is my Cheddar Lone Star Quilt that a friend gave me, Her Aunt pieced and quilted it. It is not everyday that someone will just give one of their family quilts to you. I will always love and take care of this quilt. Thanks for the friendship. You can also see the case with my family quilts in it, plus a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt I bought at an Antique Shop. Very interesting story:<br />
The prison boxes were made by prisoner's (prisoner's of war). They are made out of straw wood and hand carved. They sell now between ...$125.00 to $800.00. This box was made by a young man that was in Colorado prison in 1960 and his mother lived in Texas. It has a drawer with two handles and the top opens up with a small tray in the top and a mirror. <br />

The story here goes like this: on December 27th I was headed over to
the quilt shop to spent the money I got for Christmas and I asked my
girls to go with me. Cassandra and Lydia were right there asking me for
my help to make their dolls a quilt. This time they wanted to do it
all by themselves, from start to finish. Their little quilts took a whole
day, but they had so much fun with it. Now the baby dolls and girls
are happy.<br />

In-between sewing with the girls and Bonnie's mystery quilt, Easy Street,
I did finish this quilt. The blocks were an exchange with a dear
friend. The pattern is the 'Raise the Roof'. Like always I had to change it just
a little.<br />

Sorry for the bad photos, it had been nothing but clouds and rain here
in Texas for the last few days and my camera doesn't always like that.<br />
<br />
The year ended right on spot and the new year has started off great..... Hope your year is going to be a GREAT ONE...<br />
<br />...just Peggyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15004908968229767519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6607927784118237938.post-2126070915133710352013-01-09T16:00:00.000-06:002013-01-09T16:12:40.604-06:00Life after the Holidays OK, Christmas is over and the deco's are all put away until next year. Although I don't know why we put them away because the year goes by so fast it's almost time to put them out again.<br />
<br />
If you remember about a month ago I gave a clue that something was coming. My DH bought me a beautiful Singer Red Eye, with no case. Now if you need a table, you are better off buying one with a machine in it so you have the brackets to put your machine in with.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLnUl1G8UUdwWN_YZM4GQoI-4k72gNpWVAF_rUh7iZ0n4GCFCxhq4d9FNGib_D7ONag8mr4qCuUeL4QJvdNORxlerDTHuC_8gEV7vAW9foLeg5LsAX7Dj5D9KNGPJjEeRk-uFDBq_kf1k/s1600/singer+red+eye.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="258" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLnUl1G8UUdwWN_YZM4GQoI-4k72gNpWVAF_rUh7iZ0n4GCFCxhq4d9FNGib_D7ONag8mr4qCuUeL4QJvdNORxlerDTHuC_8gEV7vAW9foLeg5LsAX7Dj5D9KNGPJjEeRk-uFDBq_kf1k/s320/singer+red+eye.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
By the time we bought the table for this machine, I now have a 66 Sphinx and a 66 Lotus Flower and two tables . We now have the Eye Red in it's new home and I love sewing on her. Unlike most people when I treadle, both of my feet are going the same direction at the same time. Always stopping in the heal down position. It just comes natural to me.<br />
<br />
What happened in 1946:<br />
<br />
We are still in World War II <br />
Winston Churchill warns of an "iron curtain" falling over the Soviet-dominated Eastern Europe.<br />
Xerographic photocopying process invented.<br />
Mobile telephones and zoom lens were introduced for the first time.<br />
The World Series: St. Louis over Boston, 4-3<br />
Alfred Hitchcock released his thriller 'Notorious' <br />
Songs of the year were 'Come Rain or Come Shine' and 'Zip-a-dee-doo-dah'<br />
Dr. Spock wrote 'Baby and Child Care' which influences millions of new and expectant parents throughout the U.S.<br />
Strapless bras become popular, ushering in a trend toward bare-shouldered women's fashions<br />
'Tide', the first detergent designed for automatic clothes washing machines was introduced.<br />
The First electric clothes dryers made.<br />
Suntan lotions, developed for the troops during World Ward II was marketed to consumers for the first time. <br />
<br />
<br />
One of the talks my DH and I had was that I thought it would be fun to have a machine as old as I am. That leads us to the next machine. This is a Singer 99K. We have put a motor and light on it, so I can have more fun sewing.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUIQqs4XA6EM9eopIj8gcODtmmV9JW9yIX9Dek8-LhKq5eujmL14Q7viowR7sEszg31gVzaj6gO94LlRaO08kh8fX1PCS18_MG7Du6oFh5TTx6ZBgnkVZwxPtBXbDyuZj8mJyhTZBVrUM/s1600/singer+1946.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUIQqs4XA6EM9eopIj8gcODtmmV9JW9yIX9Dek8-LhKq5eujmL14Q7viowR7sEszg31gVzaj6gO94LlRaO08kh8fX1PCS18_MG7Du6oFh5TTx6ZBgnkVZwxPtBXbDyuZj8mJyhTZBVrUM/s320/singer+1946.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
All four of these machines are beautiful and work like clockwork. <br />
<br />
So this post does not get to long, come back tomorrow and see what First Monday brings....<br />

The Easy Street finial....This has been a wild ride the last 2 weeks. Christmas and New Years was lots of fun with family and friends. Between it was the<a href="http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2013/01/mystery-monday-link-up-jan-7th.html"> Mystery Quilt, Easy Street over at Quiltville Quips & Snips</a>.
